Replace those old tired and worn out seats with a new Custom Leather Interior!

Replacing or fixing up your car’s interior can be a big job, but if done correctly it can make that older car a new and more comfortable ride. This can be a costly investment, but if done right it can increase the value of your car and make a newer car stand out. There are many options out there to choose from and endless combinations to go with.

Classic Car Interior

If your vehicle is a collector car you must be careful in how you go about the replacement of the interior. Do your research first, in some cases modifications from stock can decrease the car’s value significantly.

Most car manufactures use a combination of leather and vinyl, since vinyl wears better , leather is usually only used on the seating surface. For example the style vinyl or leather that you choose should be the same as the factory interior or as close to factory as you can find, the panel inserts (style in which each panel are sewn together) should be done exactly as the OEM (original equipment manufactured) seats were when it left the factory. Be careful in assuming that whats in the car now is correct, the older the car the better chance there is that they have already been replaced once. If you are restoring a vehicle that will be worth high dollars, every thing down to the stitching, carpet style, and grain on the vinyl and leather should be as close to the original interior as you can find or the value can be reduced significantly.

If you choose to go with a custom interior and incorporate audio and even video we recommend keeping as much of the stock parts intact as possible. This way down the road if needed you can return the interior to a stock look. Serious About Sound’s techs can help with the details, from a stock upgrade with a hidden stereo system that will keep it 100% stock looking, or a custom system with matched leather seats and door panels, the choices are endless. We will work with you and make sure that your investment stays  an investment.

So you have newer car or truck and want to make it stand out in a crowd, depending on model, make and year its not as hard as it sounds. Most of the newer vehicles come from the factory with well equipped sound systems, but as you know it still doesn’t have that audiophile sound quality you are looking for.

From and investment stand point, if the interior is worn or ripped and you plan to do an audio system upgrade now is the time to consider doing the interior. Since you need to remove all most all of the interior to do an upgrade (correctly that is  ie. sound deadening, new wiring, etc.) now is the time to think about having new leather skins for the seats, new carpet, head liners and even custom door panels to house those new speakers. In a lot of cases it’s the same or even cheaper to replace the whole seat cover rather than have just one panel on the seat replaced (most of the time it doesn’t match anyway). When getting the replacement seat skins made you have many options, one is to take the skins off the cushions and have them all un-stitched and the new leathers templated from the old panels. Secondly you can purchase new skins from many manufactures that have templates for your car and can custom tailor the seats the way you would like. There is one thing I’ve noticed, when you go with kits often the panel inserts are not the same as the OEM seats, this is not a big deal and will make it stand out with a custom look but you if your looking for that factory look you may need to have the seat templates made from the old covers (usually more expensive). Either route you take will allow you to add colors of your choice, suede, embroidery, piping, etc., you can also add heated seats (in most cases), head rest monitors (for the kids and even gaming). So if thinking about adding that custom interior look to your ride Serious About Sound’s techs can help you choose whats best for the money and your car.
